I LOVE a peppermint mocha! If I’m going to treat myself to a coffee house drive through, $6 cup of coffee, its probably going to be a peppermint mocha.

Chocolate mint is one of my favorite flavor combinations. Think Andes Mints, Girl Scouts Thin Mints, Lindt Peppermint Cookie Truffles, York Peppermint Patties…YUM! I can make myself sick on these delicious nibbles if I’m unsupervised. If these make your mouth water just thinking about them, I have a quick and easy treat I enjoy during the winter months.

Side note, I discovered this year that Nothing Bundt Cake has a seasonal chocolate peppermint cake that is only available during Christmas!! I can’t wait to have one again next year!!

I have a rule about this treat and its kind of silly but it keeps this extra special because I look forward to it every year. I only do this during the winter months after Thanksgiving passes and until Mardi Gras is over. Generally speaking that’s from December through February.

There is something about mint that makes me think of Christmas and winter, and the only time I really drink coffee is on the weekends. Snuggling up on my couch, in the early morning hours before the sun comes up, with my pup and a peppermint mocha is medicine to my soul. It’s just me, my thoughts, and a hot cup of delicious coffee. It’s indulgent and it makes me so happy! #treatyourself

Down here where I live, crawfish season is getting into the swing of things around the time Mardi Gras passes and the weather is really starting to warm up, so its a good time to switch to a less sweat flavor and practicing a small bit of restraint to get ready for shorts weather.

Anywho, this is a very affordable alternative to the drive through version of a peppermint mocha. All need need is your usual coffee you make at home and three other ingredients. It’s so simple you really don’t need a recipe!

Just mix a prepared cup of coffee with one packet of hot chocolate mix, a couple soft peppermints or regular candy/candy cane peppermint, and as much milk as you’d like! That’s it!

You can make 8 servings of peppermint mocha for what you would pay for one cup at a coffee house! Do yourself and your wallet a favor by recreating this quick and easy alternative. Enjoy your winter treat and let me know what you think!
